Some years ago I read about Atlantis and advanced prehistorical civilisations.
From my research I put together a story which I shared in an Adult Education class called 'Atlantis and Other Ideas' which ran for about 15 years. I used hand drawn overheads and waved my arms a lot :-)
Over the last 6 months I've been updating my research knowledge on this topic. I decided to capture some of the Atlantis story using media skills I've picked up over the last few years.
I'm capturing my research in Evernote. Some of the books I read many years ago are in Goodreads.
And more recently I've started to tell some of the story through video.
I've become very interested in how an understanding of the history, and prehistory of humanity might inform thinking, communication and action on today's local and global issues.
It's clear that worldviews play a critical role in several ways:
- Our worldview has a significant influence on whether we believe in the possibility of advanced prehistorical civilisations.
- Our worldview determines what kinds of knowledge can be meaningfully interpreted when understanding the history of advanced prehistorical civilisations.
- Some worldviews of those who live today are not significantly different from those of the past.
- An understanding of worldviews is essential for the co-creation of preferred futures.

One of the powerful things about the Atlantis story is that whether one believes it's fact or fantasy it helps to uncover our hidden values, beliefs and assumptions.
Our belief or not in the story often has more to do with our worldviews than the available evidence. It's an emotive topic for some.
